Description:
This is an incredible piece of workmanship by miniature artist, Renee Bowen c. 1970--everything is so tiny, it has to be seen in person to get the true feel of how precisely this Game of Fishpond was executed. The first photo shows the 2-part box together, the top fits perfectly over the bottom portion--dimensions are 1 1/2" x 1 1/2". The second photo illustrates how thin the sides of the 2-parts of the box are, a scant 1/16" deep on each box piece. The third photo shows each box side along with the playing pieces, 2 tiny fishing poles with hooks and miniscule fish that actually stand up on tiny bases so that the hook can be inserted into tiny little holes in each fish. Truely incredible. Each fish is 5/16" long and you really need a magnifying glass to see that each fish is detailed and that the hole for hooking is the eye of the fish. Colorful and bright, the cover pictures a boy and girl just coming from fishing--he is carrying the fish with a proud smile on his face and she is carrying a basket on her arm, and the base box's interior is the fishpond full of fish swimming in the water...the boxes are thin cardstock covered with imprinted paper. The fish are metal and look to be hand painted, with tiny wood bases to stand up. The fishing poles are wood with thin black cording for lines with metal hooks at the ends. All pieces are in excellent condition. I cannot find a signature, but this wonderful miniature game was part of a collection of Renee Bowen games and furniture (the other items are being sold separately). This would be great as a display piece in a game room, nursery or boy's room for a dollhouse or a scene.
