Kestner Boulle Desk with Marble Surface and Envelopes #194-09

Description:
Beautifully made dollhouse boulle desk with the rare feature of a marble writing surface by the reknown German firm of J. D. Kestner. Beautiful dark finish with gold gilt accents, crown in the middle and shields on the two doors which open and other additional gold gilt decorations on skirt and legs. Cubbies in the center portion to hold paperwork. Comes with 2 original lovely blue envelopes, both of which are cut and decorated just like a real envelope, one of which has writing on the front and the other front is blank; envelopes are a scant 1/4" by 1/2". Made during the 2nd half of the 1800's. Height is 4 1/2" at highest point and 4" wide. Lovely condition, showing slight wear. Also pictured with a 6" tall dollhouse grandfather to show how nicely they look together;grandfather is sold separately.
