Description:
Darling dollhouse size carriage made by the German firm of Babette Schweizer c. 1900. The carriage is soft metal, delicate and beautifully made with extra detailing including the original colors on the metal filigree of acqua blue and gold. The bedding is very lovely and consists of a "mattress" made from kapok covered with old silk, the same acqua blue as the coloring on the carriage. The outer blanket is made from beautiful antique lace and pinned to the sides to hold the "baby" in. The "baby" is an early frozen Charlotte who wears a gown made from early lace. The whole package is very charming and beautiful. Frozen Charlotte is approximately 1 1/4" long. The carriage is approximately 3 1/2" long and 2 1/2" high. All in beautiful condition. I found a picture of this same carriage in a book showing an early advertisement by Babette Schweitzer illustrating this carriage with their identification number as #603.
