Description:
Fabulous, early dollhouse food, so hard to find especially in the old wood packing crate or box which still has the shredded packing. Made in Germany c. 1900. Included are 3 beautiful bacon slabs which are attached to stringing so that they can be hung either in a dollhouse kitchen, kitchen roombox or a butcher shop. They can also be displayed in the original wooden packing box on the floor or on a shelf. The bacon slabs are beautifully made from what looks to be either plaster or a form of composition, hand painted in the front. This really reminds me so much of Beatrix Potter's The Tale of The Two Bad Mice when they find the beautiful, shiny ham in Lucinda and Jane's dollhouse. The packing box still retains one section of the original cover which is held on by 2 tiny nails. The wood packing box is marked underneath: Made in Germany. Also pictured with a counter taken from a Gottschalk room box for display purposes--wooden counter is not for sale. These early food pieces are rare and wonderful. The wooden box is 2 1/4" long, 1 1/4" deep. Each bacon slab is approx. 1" long. Very nice condition.
