Description:
Three lovely ladies enjoying themselves in a lively conversation. From c. 1860, this very early dresser or trinket box is wonderfully executed with sharp, extraordinary detailing, especially their faces. Each lady is wearing a distinct long gown with head coverings....one even has a long shawl which she is extending out seemingly to protect the one below. This is truly a sublime depiction of young women enjoying themselves. Colorful greens, plums, blues, orange and highlighted with gold, clothing and hair styles are of the 1860 era. Beautiful condition with no breaks or repairs. 3 1/8" high, 3 1/2" long. Incised with numbers only on the bottom. Also pictured with dresser box of father with daughter on pony, sold separately. From my personal collection.
