Large Lines 1924 Dollhouse#204-17

Status: Available Price: $495.00
Description:
English dollhouse made by G. & J. Lines with wonderful presence. Beautiful dollhouse in a large size with 4 big rooms and 2 hallways in the center staircase with a landing in the middle where the stairs take a turn to the second floor with very nice railings. The dollhouse is timbered and with a stucco look with original hinges and hook and litho paper on the exterior. It opens in the center, one side to the left and the other side to the right. The green paneled front door is recessed with columns and above is a small porch with a window. All the windows are glass with panes very nicely done and green shudders made from card. The splendid steep roof is quite high topped with 2 massive chimneys. All the paint and stuccoing is original. It looks like sometime long ago some of the brick paper at the bottom of the sides and back was replace and there is some fading--the portion in the back has turned color but generally the back of a house is against a wall and not seen...so this does not take away from the wonderful visual effect of this dollhouse. There are 2 rooms on the left side which step out and are large, each room is 12" wide by 14" deep by 8" high. The stepback 2 rooms on the right side are 12" wide by 10 7/8" deep. The rooms have original wallpapers, some of which have some imperfections. The bottom room on the left side is miss paper as pictured, but the opening front wall has the wallpaper--this room could be rewallpapered. I actually prefer to have missing wallpaper if some of the original wallpaper is present--this way you still get a sense of how the room was. Overall height of the dollhouse is 33" including the chimneys. Width is 31". Depth is 16 1/2" at base. The base of the house is painted green and there is a good size section on the front right size that represents a grassy area of a yard. There is a picture of this house in Dian Zillner's book Antique & Collectible Dollhouses on page 41. This house presents very nicely, even with the few flaws, but overall it is a great looking house. I have priced this house very reasonably. Please note that this house is big and heavy, consequently it will have to be picked up and cannot be ship as shipping would be very high. I am in the Boston area.
