German Carriage with Baby and Doll #194-21 SOLD

Status: Sold
This is a wonderful, all original ensemble that has always been together and in fantastic condition. Great German tin baby carriage enameled in cream color with curved handle holding a wonderful German character face celluloid baby with hand painted features and jointed arms and legs. She wears a splendid long gown edged in scalloped and embroidered trim with is also repeated at the bodice--this gown is simply wonderfully and professionally made. She also wears a tiny diaper underneath. Super character face with molded hair and she has the celluloid helmet mark on the back. She has her own little baby doll also made from celluloid, unjointed with a sweet little batiste gown trimmed in lace. The carriage is skillfully made with wheels that turn and with the original cotton covered hood that opens and closes, as shown. Carriage is marked on the bottom: Made in Germany. All in fantastic condition, I cannot see any wear....these 3 pieces must have been packed away for many years. c. 1920, all 3 pieces made in Germany. Great early items like these are getting harder and harder to obtain, especially in such wonderful condition. Length of carriage is 4" without the handle, 5" with handle, height is 4 3/4". Baby is approximately 3 1/4" without gown, baby doll is approximately 1 1/8" without gown.
