White & Brown Dog with Blue Collar #187-11 SOLD

Status: Sold
Description:
Darling little dog with a sweet disposition! This little white and brown dog is quite early c. 1870 or perhaps even earlier as he is made from pressed bisque and is solid, not hollow like later poured bisque figures. He is laying on the floor, or in this case on a chair, with his head and chin down. Beautifully made, with lots of comb marks indicating fur with brown ears and top of head and brown bushy tail. He is very detailed with a red mouth and even a blue collar--blue accenting on very early bisque dolls and animals was extremely popular. No marks, as very early bisque was generally not marked. 1 3/8" long and 7/16" high at highest point on back. Also pictured with other miniature dogs (each dog is sold separately) and 1" scale living room chairs (chairs are not for sale) for size comparison.
