Description:
What an exceptional fort for displaying on its own or with the addition of figures. This wonderful piece was manufactured by the firm of Gottschalk circa 1920. It measures 20 5/8"W x 16 1/4" D x 17 7/8" H. Made of wood and cardboard, the lower walls on the sides are applied with formed cardboard resembling a rocky mount, capped with a large stone foundation. All the crenelated walls, buildings and towers are removable for storage underneath in a trap door. The fort has a series of ramps winding up to a drawbridge, supported by chains, that leads you into a lower courtyard. There is then a set of stairs bringing you to the upper courtyard. Several of the crenelated walls have been replaced but do not detract from the wonderful presence of this piece. All the galleries, buildings and towers are original and retain their original paint. The last photograph show the upper courtyard with several 4 cm (1 1/2") figures (the figures do not come with the fort). This fort is in very nice condition for its age.
