Kestner Maid with Unusual Face #199-19 SOLD

Status: Sold
Description:
Fantastic dollhouse maid by the German firm of Kestner, c. 1920. Molded bisque shoulderhead, arms and legs; cloth body. She is 5" tall and has the most unusual face I have seen in a long time which can be viewed in the photos. The modeling is quite different and her face is delicately hand painted, with blue eyes. Her dark blond hair is pulled back into a low bun at the back and the sides are twisted to flair out a bit over the ears; there is also a center part which can be seen at the top of her head; one can even make out the separately molded hair strands. Just beautiful workmanship on the head of this doll. She wears her original factory clothing which consists of a simple navy blue uniform with white collar, small apron and shoulderstraps and a black ribbon belt around the waiste. She is in great condition with no breaks or repairs. A little bit of aging can be detected on the white portions of her uniform. This maid would look great in a doll house of early 1900 and also a Tynietoy dollhouse, as she is the correct era.
