Fancy German Brass Woven Basket w/Logs

Status: Available Price: $98.00
Description:
What a splendid and well executed basket made from intricate thin ribbons of brass woven in a basket design trimmed in brass roping in a curled design and brass twisted handle. This is the most delicate brass item I have ever encountered. I have included numerous photos to try to show the finess and the delicacy of this piece, but the pictures cannot capture the true exquisite workmanship of this piece. What is truly fascinating is that it is impressed "Germany" on the side near the middle on one of the brass ribbons and I have tried to capture this in one of the close-up photos without much success as the letters are very tiny. Made in Germany c. 1900, this fancy basket with logs would be great in an elaborate dollhouse next to a grand fireplace. The logs are removable so that if one wishes, the basket can be used for other purposes. Diameter of basket is 1 1/2"; height of basket is 1 1/8" without the handle.
