Description:
This is an extremely rare and very early china head boy. Surface is pink tinted, a rare feature, with rosy cheeks, short hair that is parted in the middle with well defined curls coming toward he forehead and much brush strokes in his black hair and his ears are exposed. Face is very well done with black and red lines above his blue eyes. Nose dots and lips are delicately painted. Inside marking is shown, very early fancy writing of 2/0. applied by hand in black. This is the first time I have ever had this particular model and it is very hard to find. Made in Germany c. 1870. Height is 2 1/4". Width from shoulder edge to shoulder edge is 1 15/16" just a smidge under 2". Excellent condition with no breaks, repairs or hairlines.
