Large Kestner All Bisque w/Blue Stockings #185-03 SOLD

Status: Sold
Description:
What a wonderful large size, 7 1/2" high--without the wig and slightly taller with the wig on-- all bisque Kestner, with gorgeous face--the bisque on the face is clear and lovely and very delicately executed, which is what Kestner is known for. She has blue sleep eyes with multi-stroked eyebrows which come together closely, similar to the French dolls and she could possibly be have made for the French market, although she is definitely German made. Fantastic modeling of face, open mouth with tiny teeth and the edges of the lips are curled upwards, so typical of good Kestner dolls. Eyelashes are well painted and very prominent like the eyebrows. She is jointed on the shoulders and hips and has great molded blue ribbed stockings with Maryjane style shoes with small heels and soles painted beige another Kestner trait. She is marked on the back of the head 150 x2. Nice chuncky body with slightly molded breasts and a distinct belly buttom. She wears her original pale blue dress very well made with a white lacy bib front with surrounding pleats; high waiste is tied with ribbon. Early lace edged underwear tied with ribbon. Her original wig has short bangs in the front and long curls in the back has the typical Kestner plaster pate with a fabulous blue ribbon and hand made silk pink roses for hair decoration. I have tried to show all of these wonderful features with numerous pictures. She is in great condition with no breaks or hairlines. The wig shows a tiny bit of thinning in the back, but overall the wig is lovely. Made in Germany by the Kestner firm, c. 1890
