Unusual Potty Baby with Napoleon Doll #180-04 SOLD

Status: Sold
Description:
This is one of the nicest and best quality potty babies I have ever had. He is a nice large size, 5 1/2" high and 3 7/8" wide at the base. This little guy is pulling up his night shirt and ready to do his business in the large potty in front of him. This is very early porcelain, a pressed porcelain instead of the much later poured slip, and glazed. This little fellow wears a white, laced nightcap (blond hair peaking out) and a long white gown trimmed in orange and covered with blue stars and orange matching slippers. He is a happy little fellow with a wonderful smile on his face and finely executed features. And then the splendid surprise... a Napoleon doll, wonderfully dressed, is leaning against him in the back, even with his right hand tucked inside his jacket!!! What a wonderful combination. And another surprise: although the picture doesn't show because of a shadow, this little boy is sexed and he is definitely a boy!!! Marked with numbers 2693. Made in Germany c. 1850. This item came from the famed estate and collection of Richard Wright. Richard was a friend of ours and we absolutely had to go to the sale of his private collection. This is one of the items we were able to obtain. This item is full of surprises!!
