It opens up to reveal that it is a container for candy. Roping is criss-crossed on the surface and is also a holder to be used around a doll's neck or it can be hung on a Christmas tree. Fantastic workmanship. c. 1900-1910 period and looks like it was made in America. No markings. Pictured as a toy for a Heubach boy doll with other toys that are sold separately--the doll is not for sale. Size is 2 5/8" across. Height is 2 1/8". Great condition. Colors are red, purple and white. Minor aging. This drum candy container is also great as an accessory for the 4th of July.
