This intricate wooden puzzle is shaped like an apple with stem on top, gessoed and polychrome painted in cream and several hues of red colors. Not only is this a great toy, but it is also very attractive as a display with other early wooden items. Overall height is 2 1/2" and diameter is 2 1/2". Made in Germany during the mid- 1800's. The smart little bear (12" high) is shown for demonstration purposes only and sold separately. Shows some paint wear and one small nick on corner of one of the pieces which can be seen in the photos.
